Hospice Care

CHI St. Joseph’s Health Hospice Care is a Medicare-certified, Joint Commission approved hospice program. Hospice provides high quality care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of seriously ill and dying patients and their loved ones. Hospice gives individualized care to patients who have Alzheimer’s disease or dementias, cancer, heart, lung, kidney or liver disease, stroke or coma, Parkinson’s or ALS and other end stage chronic illnesses. Services include:

  • Home health aide care
  • Social services
  • Spiritual care
  • Physical, occupational, speech therapy
  • Bereavement services
  • Homemaking services
  • Medical equipment
  • Pain and symptom management
  • Medications
  • Volunteer respite care

Hospice provides palliative care to promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life on the end-of-life journey. Patients and their loved ones decide what care and help best suits their needs. Hospice care is available for patients at their place of care, whether it is their home, a care center or with their loved ones. Hospice recognizes and responds to the needs of surviving loved ones through bereavement support.

Hospice Care Volunteers

Hospice Care Volunteers are a special part of the CHI St. Joseph’s Health Hospice Care team. They provide companionship to the patient, support caregivers with respite time, and assist with transportation and other needs. They are specially trained to be with the patient and their loved ones through this time offering support, understanding, and compassion.
